What companies' Procurement departments find most easily today is the traditional buyer, who negotiates prices, contracts services, and evaluates suppliers. However, the market is in need of another type of professional, who is increasingly in demand by companies: the Strategic Buyer, who is capable of generating competitive advantage, whether in terms of cost or innovation, who formulates and implements supply strategies and manages relationships with suppliers and internal customers.
“The Strategic Buyer is an extremely valued professional who is in short supply in the job market. There are plenty of vacancies in this area,” adds Claudio Mitsutani, CEO of Atman Consultoria Empresarial and Procurement Business School.
In the consultant's assessment, to act strategically, the buyer needs to develop a series of skills, both technical and behavioral/managerial, that will allow him to act on the “business value drivers”.
The new arsenal available to the Purchasing professional includes tools that help map the supplier market, contribute to looking at acquisitions not only from the point of view of the purchase price, but also taking into account other costs (useful life of equipment, maintenance, energy consumption, among others), in addition to using market intelligence principles.
To fill this gap, Mitsutani developed the Strategic Sourcing Certification Program, an 87-hour course that begins on August 2 in São Paulo. According to him, the course is innovative in Brazil and will cover the main topics, skills, tools, methodologies and situations related to Strategic Sourcing. The content combines both practice and theory.
“We will certify these professionals, preparing them to meet market needs”, reiterates the CEO of Atman Consultoria Empresarial.
