Forespel in São José dos Ausentes, which will produce pellets, is located on the banks of BR 285 in São José dos Ausentes, the result of an investment of R$60 million. It is expected to start operating at the beginning of the second half of the year. The project has been under development for three years and has already been authorized by FEPAM to operate using forestry waste from producers in the region.
The Ausentes, Bom Jesus and São Francisco de Paula region is home to large areas of planted forests, especially pine, the basic raw material for the production of pellets. This material is processed and shaped into small wooden cylinders, capable of generating energy for homes and for use in boilers for industry, especially for the international market.
The forecast is to create 100 direct jobs and benefit more than a thousand raw material suppliers, confirms Otoniel da Silva Duarte, the company's executive manager.
